I really enjoyed your tips. It can be difficult to get started when that blank word processing screen is staring you in the face challenging you to come up with something, anything, of value. I ritual could be just the thing to kick-start a stretch of writing.

I find it important to remind myself that it's okay to write garbage--the important thing is just to write. I've made my mantra, "Just get it down." Once it's saved I find whatever I've written, whether it's the worst possible junk or something promising, has value. Either it becomes a story or it sparks an idea or, at the very least, it shows me one fork in the writing road that it's really not worth traveling down any farther.

Thanks for a great site!
